People Say The Funniest Things

Today is my gardening day; with my customers. A beautiful day, proper spring morning, with a soft mist and the birds singing for the first time this year.

My second customer of  the day asked me to take a look at her Lilly. Oh how we laughed, well I did, after I'd tottered of to a more private spot.

There really was a Lilly with its roots  hanging out of the bottom of the pot. No wonder she wanted me to look at it.

There wasn't much left of the original pot.

Normally, when I repot, I go up one pot size, but this time I went up 2 sizes as there was so much root.

After a long day of digging and such like, I decided to phone a friend who's pushing 90. She's been watching the Winter Olympics and is quite taken by the ski jumping. After a preamble, she said she liked the idea of having a go at it. She thought it would be a bit tricky to steer and to stay airborne, but lovely to float through the air like that, though the landing might need care. I laughed at that, only to have the smile wiped off my face. You like all that winter stuff, and after last week, you should be ready.  Ready for what? I asked her.Ski jumping, said she, You should try it, you don't weigh very much; you'd float very well. Thanks Joyce.
