I had to see a customer in Dursley today. Off I went all cheery,
enjoying these plants as they drape themselves over the old stone walls by our little gate.
Sadly, the other side of the steps was less lovely thanks, in part, to The Passage To India, see http://mudslung.blogspot.com/
Having finished at my customer's. I headed to ULEY. Being a countryside lover (would you have ever guessed?) I had to pull over and show you this proper English scene. I's LONGDOWN in the foreground, with the pimple of COALEY PEAK on the far left horizon.
I stopped in a farmers' drive and was immediately surrounded by half a dozen amiable dogs, closely followed by their, equally amiable, lady owner. We had a bit of a chat; us two women that is, and parted cheerfully, having compared our viewpoints. Being lower down her drive by about 8 feet, I found the stubble field in her foreground, contrasted strongly against the hedge, which I loved. From her stance, a couple of feet higher up the drive, the view had far less impact. She was genuinely surprised at the difference a small change in position can make.
STOP IT!
Now you know why we parted in laughter.
Gerry cooked a very good lunch, which he finished by serving a scrumptious dessert of home grown strawberries. We needed to take some exercise to work off our meal.
We headed for the MILLENNIUM GREEN, where a relaxed Gerry took in the view..... However, when he realized the camera was on him, he, VERY THEATRICALLY, PULLED IN HIS STOMACH, making me laugh out loud; as I took his picture - below!
LOL !!!!
It's a beautiful field,
that's being transformed by people like Gerrys' brother, into a traditional hay meadow: see http://britishwildlflorandfauna.blogspot.com/
Back in the house, Jo arrived with her dog MARLEY.
A proper sweety, obedient too. Would keep washing my, bare, feet though! Next time we meet, Jo, leave my feet alone :D
