Computers, who'dav'm? Thursday 14.10.10

Sometimes you get to thinking that something you did in a previous life is having to be paid back in this one. This is one of those times.

After all the rush and bustle of the summer, I was finally getting myself up to date on the blogging side of life. And then my photos wouldn't upload. A full couple of days went by with no luck at all. And then, on the Friday, marvellous, everything settled down and my images floated up and into the ethersphere; wherever that is. Blogger had been experiencing technical trouble, I was happy, off I went again, tappity typing.

Halfway through Friday evening, blogging, it went wobbly on me again. This time I had run out of ethereal photo storage and that's a lot of photos. MeWally muttered something about reducing my piccys before I upload them. No MeWally. No. Why does it matter; the storage thing? It matters because all photos we see on the internet, are stored centrally, by a range of companies. When we open anything on the internet, the images are retrieved from their storage facility. That's why we have to wait for images to load when we open a web document. The upshot is that I had to buy more storage. It didn't cost much, less than a fiver for way more than I had before. I had to wait at least 24 hours for it to be enabled.  Once again I was left with no blogging. And me with my hectic life!

There I was 24 hours older and with more photo storage than I'll use in a year, only to find there's another problem with the computer, network, internet, phone line???? Extreme go slow. So extreme that nothing functions.  It's Monday now and the computers at MeWallys work place have the same problem. Knowing this makes me feel better, even though I'm behind with my blog and typing this on the word processor, having had no proper internet for 5 days.

I can do no more than wait for the geeks to mend the broken system  whilst we head off for a few days floating down a canal - like you do.

PS.  You could've knocked me down with a feather when I tried to upload my piccys; and couldn't. MeWally and I rummaged around the Help and Forum sights for a solution as all my info insisted I had purchased enough storage for pro shooter. Eventually we found what we were looking for and the problem was solved. If you're also struggling click here to take a look at the solution.
