Not too long ago, I suffered a birthday. MeWally showered me with lovely gifts, one of which is shown below.
It's a book from THE NEW NATURALIST series. This is a series of books I've been thinking about collecting; it now looks like I've made a start at last. They were quite the thing when I was a slip of a girl and they had been in print for a good few years even then. This one's from 1951. That makes it even older than MeWally!
The upshot is that I've spent the time, since my birthday, trying to work out which, out of the almost 50 ORCHIDS that grow wild in the UK, did I actually see last summer.

Thankfully this card arrived, clutched (see what I did there?) tightly in Debbis' hand and it immediately took my mind off my quest. Apparently it's meant to be funny !
