Number 9 Bus

Weeks, YES WEEKS, have gone by with nothing to do at the weekends. Plenty of CHORES, of course, but no social stuff. Today all the good things happened.

MeWally lucked in/out; a trip to Scotland for a week for his work, but he missed todays lunch time fun as a result.

I headed off to KINGSHILL HOUSE, DURSLEY, for a day of GARDEN GLASS making.

I couldn't do the whole day, lunch was calling. After an hour and a half I left my work on the work bench, raced home, changed out of 'workshop' clothes and into my ready to go 'fancy lunch out' clothes. With hair brushed and lippy swished on lickity-split, I zoomed up the W (pron. double you) and .....

straight into THE COWS. Summer's here and they're out and roaming about on the hunt for cars to annoy.
"I'm in a hurry!" I muttered. They sauntered on. I beeped them. They sauntered on. I could see I was beaten and sat back to enjoy the irony. The W had been re-opened last night, for the weekend, I'd managed to slalom  about the barricaded roadworks only to find this natural blockage lurking around the bend.

Anyway, I made it to the reassuringly  stately BURLEIGH COURT HOTEL without being the first, or the last, arrival.

A CONFECTION OF PERFECTION
Celebration cake made by fellow guest, Valerie - so lovely - especially her sugar flowers  on top of, and icing doilies underneath, each cake.
The lunch was a 90th birthday celebration held by one of my customers'. The venue and food ; perfection. The company easy to chat with ... which was a bit of a relief and the cake a total triumph. The whole event topped off by my gorgeous customer clearly enjoying spoiling her lucky family, friends and 'team'.

I floated, as best as I could, bearing in mind how bloated I was, back to my place, changed clothes and zipped back to DURSLEY.

With a lot of help from CAROLINE LAMBERT, I managed to pull off a garden ornament of some kind inside the mere total of 2.5 hours of 'hands on' time. Click here for more making details. I'll grab some pliers from the shed to give it a tweak, then I'll be happy with it.

So there you have it, the number 9 bus syndrome; you wait ages for one to come along and then 3 arrive all at once. I think I made the most of it and rode each bus with style.  The third bus? Well that's the next bit, read on ; }
What does a girl do after all that excitement?

Raid the garden for STRAWBERRIES
Make CUSTARD.
