In France ECO is the abbreviation for ECONOMICAL.
Here it's the abbreviation for ECOLOGICAL.
Personally I think the two should go hand in hand.
If you want an ECO HOME you'd be wise to be an ECO SHOPPER.

To help us with this, Paul Sheridan came over to give us some advice on home energy use; before we get too far into our renovations. He works for SEVERNWYE ENERGY AGENCY 01452 835077 and did a full audit of our home in terms of how we do and could use energy. Stroud District Council chip in half the fee, leaving a standard charge of 180quid for us to pay. It's a lot of money, but hopefully will stop us making gaffs as we restore our place.
We now have lots of advice to help us work with and a full report explaining OUR options for our little house will follow shortly. All that and ongoing advice and support sounds like a very good deal to me.
