Snowey Sambuy / Wednesday 17.2.10

A long morning of knitting and putting up an aerial; well, Paul put up the aerial. I mooched about taking photos.

5 of us headed to Sambuy for an afternoon sliding about in the snow. Boy did I land on my ass, hard. Spot the bruise. Ouch.

Gerry had a walker’s ticket, to the top station using the chair lift, leaving at 3pm. When we all got there, it was shut. Not the station, the cafĂ©. Gerry wasn’t allowed down until 4pm, so stayed up there taking piccys. We slid away.

Alpine Chough were out in force, chattering to each other and to themselves. How can any bird survive here?

Gerry’s cine camera lead hung out of the car as we drove home and snapped with an amazingly loud bang. We stopped the car and found it. The trouble is, he thought a battery the size of half a brick had been plugged into the end of the lead. We walked up and down the road looking for it, then got into the car and retraced our route, slowly, very slowly, peering at the verges and into the fields in the hope of spotting it. No luck.

Back at the chalet, Gerry dipped into his bag … and there it was. Phew.

Pudding tonight; hmhmmmm.

All crashed out, bloated and sleepy, watching the ‘new’ Italian Job movie. Gerry dozed through it, snoring like a bear.
