2.4.10

Soft velvety day, spring is on the way

Saturday 20.3.10
Woke up to this beautiful view from our bedroom window. Welcome to the weekend'

Then Rose came over to 'do for us'. We love you Rose and your bootyliscious slippers.

Bloody power lead conked out on my weeny computer today.
We blogged and Forummed (?) it: a faulty batch; oh great. MeWally ordered a new one and paid for it, and whether he'll bother to complain about the duff one is a moot point.
I reckon it's a way of profiteering.' They' know 'we' can't be bothered to play their games. You know, clean off the hard drive and send back our computer and cable. So  we'll buy a new one at almost twenty quid. Kerching.

The first morning this year we've been able to eat brekky in our back garden. IT'S SUMMER!!!!

Then we got on with some gardening.

School, not the best place in the world, bearable though. Spent time with a class of girls who'd just sat a two hour exam, like they wanted to do maths! Not. So they did the minimum required and I did the maximum to avoid noticing them minimum required. Went rather well, I thought.

During this festival of high achievement, I googled Lewis, the island, not our friends son; that would be too weird. I wanted to look at other blog sites, as Blogspot isn't as good as it could be.

I came across this blog. I guess it's nothing special to you guys, but it made me laugh out loud, like a mad old hag. In  front of 20 Teenage girls this is not a good look.

Talking of weird, just look at this piccy of clouds.

23.3.10  A School Day-bag

Staff briefing today was as short as ever; no really, theirs is the most frequent and shortes briefing I've ever come across.
The headmaster finished by telling us that he went to number I0 yesterday and met up with Gordon Brown and Ed Balls.
And he was told, along with all the other head monsters present, that we're 'all doing a good job'.
            Oh please..... !

If I was that gullible' I'd be working for Grace Brothers.

In maths the very bright year 11 kids were distracted by a boy with a book called, 'Crack Another Yoke' , by John Foster; it's a joke / poem book. Very silly. Far too young for them. They love it. We had 2 poems, one about a dinosaur and the other about 2 yaks.

I've been challenged to write one before I see them again at the end of the day. I'm determined to have a presentable one done for when I see them last lesson. Might base it on one of the lads in the class who packed and unpacked his bag 4 times during the lesson. Making us laugh as he did so. There's the germ of a stage show here.

Parotty on Dinosaurs.

corr, Corrr, CORRRR!!!

Is That A Dinosaur In Your Bag, Or Are You Pleased To See Me
or,  The Bag Lad

A lad with a ruckity, sackity, sack,
Decided he needed to snackity, snackity, snack,
He pulled out his jackety, jackety, jack,
And his shorts all tackity, tackity, tack,
Followed, at last, by his snackity, snackity, snack.

Showing no obvious knackity, knackity, knack,
He then packed and repacked and then cracked,
Grabbing it straight up by its strappity, strappity, strap,
He saw a huge lump in it's backity, backity, back,
Oooooooo,  looked sooooo c...........ackity, cackity, cack.

This Same year 11 group didn't hold back on telling me a joke their teacher tells often. It was racist on all levels. Oh no, I wont be repeating it here. Then they told me her rude joke. Too fruity for a teacher to tell. Sadly my offering was not as well received by the group as the teachers more 'adult' humour, but it was generally liked by them.

24.3.10 Wednesday
Gardening 4 money. When I set off it was a very pleasant day, By the end of the first customer is was raining. It didn't stop all day. I didn't get soaked, just damp.

The Irish say,
It 's 'soft' today.

Last week I noticed a customers pond was heaving with Frogs. Look what was there this week.

Thursday 25.3.10

Swimming gala day.
Only 4 children involved in the lesson as all the rest were competing: that's a euphamism  for sciving.

Reasons for not taking part in the gala:-
- Our Tutor told us to do normal lessons
-My bum's too heavy and I sink
-I only like swimming in the sea.
            .
It's a dry and sunnyish day, and I'm indoors. Not fair. Think of the of the money, think of  the money, think of  the money. Not that desperate. But, then again, there are only 2 teaching weeks in April. That gives me two weeks of relaxation, apart from the Wednesday gardens. And, of course, 2 weeks; yes that's two weeks, of teaching. It all balances out as a couple of days teaching a week...by the end of the year.

Friday 26.3.10    The weirdest thing

During a very slow moment in the classroom, and today there were many, I googled/blogged Olly Sanders. Lovely site, highly recommended. He said to look at 'Baggys Blog'. No other info. I couldn't find it.

Then I looked, bear with me on this one, at blogs about Weymouth. It seemed a good idea to see what hidden gems it has to offer for our summer break, and research blog providers other than blogspot.  Anyhoo, there he was; someone I'd never heard of, apart from a moment ago, lurking about in the the Weymouth section of blogs.  Right at the top. Couldn't miss him.  Mr Baggy, of Baggys Blog!

Now what are the chances of that?

Of all the blogs in all the world ....... I had to pick this one.

My interest was peaked. Could it be that I might also turn out to know the young Dutch lad, the one who'd left a message for Olly. I went to his blog anticipating lots of daring does. Not a rock face, or kayak, in site, typically Dutch then. And, no, I didn't know him.

Some people cycle to school. It would seem that the science dept. were having fun today. A lovely bike, dressed to thrill.

Invigilating now. No not a perverse sexual act, more like perverse mental torture. I've given up staring at the tops of the students heads and I thought I should let you know how it feels to be bored out of your skull for good money.

Friday  Evening
Debbis Birthday.

Frantic, but fun start to my evening.
Shopped like a crazy woman. Grabbing the things I needed to make a decent sized, glutin free dessert.

At the Shop, Debbie was serving. Boy was she tired. Alan wanted to go out and celebrate landing a job. She Wanted to stay in and veg. With their combined offspring count at 6, that's a pretty tall order.

I counselled her to go out, she'd feel like it once she was there! She had no idea we were planning a party for her tonight. Oh how I laughed, silently, inside, straight faced.

Rushed home with the necessaries.

Sadly there are no photos of the awesome Splodge that was my meringue, cream custard, banana, Kiwi and chocolate Pavlova. I forgot, in my haste to put a drizzle of lime juice all over, to cut the sweetness and enhance the flavours. My rush was made worse by forgetting the cream when I shopped. I had to zip out again, valuable time. I'll make the
whole thing again soon, and get some shots of it. Prepare to be amazed.

Got myself all beautified while the Meringue was baking and cooling, AND prepped the topping. Assembling the whole thing while it was still warm worked well, as it turned out. Out we went, Me-wally to play table tennis, me to the party, meringue in hand.

We  all chipped in to help get the hall decorated - fun.

The arrival of  Birthday Girly Debbi.

 T

We all stood around with stupid grins on our faces.

The kids had control of the bubble gummy, teenage girly, styly music. They were having a good time playing the DJ. Spent time chatting with Mike and Sheila before heading out to pick up MeWally. I was surprisingly hungry, so had to have another feed from the buffet: only to keep MeWally company, you understand.

Wandered home to a cold house. Put on the heating, and fell asleep on the sofa under a blanket. Ahhh

A really enjoyable night.

Le Weekend Sat 27.3.10
We're drifting towards taking a deep breathe and starting the house. We're doing it rather in the way boats drift about. We progress in fits and starts, getting snagged on obstacles and drawn into big eddies of tea drinking. We never quite manage to make it down stream.

Todays snag, same as the other ones, a tree related one; the stairs. We will have to have the short run of stairs, 8 risers, made. Then you get into wood type, scale drawings and lead times. Now MeWally will have to create the drawings, on the internet, or on this Ace Cad gadget, and get it off to a series of joiners for a quote. Then we can begin to make a mess.

The interweb has a few reasonable companies as does Gloucester. Magnet and Southern, TRADE ONLY. Sells over the counter to anyone, at trade prices. If you've the balls to go in, you can buy.

Spent the rest of the day weekending. Made some soup for lunch. Did some gardening Spent the rest of the day weekending. Made some soup for lunch. Did some gardening and later made bread, in the oven. Tried out a French stick recipe

It had been such a lovely day; full sunshine, full birdsong.

We spent the evening drinking wine, eating home made pizza and watching a few things on I player by the woodburner.

Sunday 28.310

We had free tickets to the Westonbirt Antiques Fair. It's a flash gaff with lovely, run down gardens http://muddygirly.blogspot.com/  , talk about faded glory........... go take a peep.

I was so cold this evening, that when I went for a swim, I had to stand under the shower for a good 5 minutes to warm myself, before jumping into that freezing water. Only managed a scant 30 lengths; so tired and bored with the up and down of it.

Monday 29.3.10

NO TEACHING TODAY!!!!

It is of course raining.

Gerry and I headed out to buy my last 2 fruit trees

Tuesday 30.3.10

Teaching followed by an evening of Knitting with the Nailsworth Knitters http://muddymaker.blogspot.com/

Wednesday 31.3.10
Gardening 4 money

Wandered up to Minch in the pouring rain. Snowing in a sleetily horizontal sort of way. Made my apologies and left. Offered MeWally a lift to work. Not needed. Called the school and offered my services. I'm going in at lunchtime. Better than being stir crazy and besides, I need to keep my hand in.

Taught in the afternoon. No not my body shape,  oh how I wish, or my mental state, school kids. Then onto a 1 hour job at a customers. NOW the sun decides to come out – to late you watery sphere of, of, of, of .......  gas.
