Last night I toddled off to a Pamper Evening. Not the nappies, you understand. No, no, no, no, no. I'm talking pampering of the luxury kind. Not that Pampers aren't a luxury item, just ask any we/wee person.
So there I was, in Slimbridge Village Hall, and the first thing I espied across the packed room was my friend Emma, having her feet rubbed by a reflexologist. Thought I'd best leave saying Hi for a better moment.
I paid my 2.50 to get in, then a quid for the raffle and then signed up for a full back massage. I was still at table number 1.
Table 2. Let me see. Ahhh, Slimbridge soaps, 3 for a fiver, that'll do nicely. My friend's still flat on her back and now.she's having her hands rubbed
Table 3 and I've travelled no more than 15 feet from the entrance, Nails bar. One manicure later and I see my friend's no nearer upright and the woman is now massaging her head.
Heres a shot of my pudgy hand AFTER a day of gardening! Not bad.
I haven't had a heart attack, the iridescent varnish has a blue sheen. Not my best ever choice. MeWally says this picture makes my hand look like an aliens' hand , because my little finger's so short. Bloody cheek.
Table 4 sees me handing over my new felt bag as the ladies on this and the 2 adjoining tables devour it (not literally). We spent a very animated 10, or so, minutes discussing felting, my design/colour choices, what I'd change about it etc. Fun.
I was right to wonder if I'd have time to get all the way around the stalls. Not a chance. I'd just have to gun it.
Worse than that, you can't get your hand in you bag, let alone your purse, when you've just had your nails done. No nice jewellery for me....and I missed out on having a make over (face) because I ran out of time. Must do it again.
And so it went on. I was duly given tea and that fab massage. Spent a bit of money, won a spa set in the raffle and came back with a couple of pieces of lemon drizzle cake. Celebrated by heading for the Village Inn, and MeWally, bang on closing. Sipped MeWallys' beer and enjoyed the last few numbers played by the band.
WHAT A GREAT WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!!
Nice one Emma, you am a God.
